Early Dawn Nurseries was established in the 1960s by the Durrant family. It was a wholesale nursery supplying young shrubs and climbers to the wholesale markets in London, Birmingham and Leeds etc.

In the 1980s the nursery was sold to business partners Peter Sansom and Peter Gissing, they continued to run the business primarily as a nursery but with a small shop for retail sales.

During the early 1990s they decided to split the partnership, Peter Sansom took sole control of Sansoms florist, the business he loved and knew best with Peter Gissing and his love of growing taking on Early Dawn Nurseries with his wife Dawn.

The retail side of the business continued to grow but the wholesale side was in decline.

In the late 1990s due to ill health Peters two daughters Karen and Sandra had to take on the day to day running of the Nursery whilst his son Andrew continued to run Early Dawn Windows and Conservatories.

An extension was built in early 2000 which has greatly increased the retail space and allowed us to open the Beech Tree Cafe. We also have an extensive Aquatics department with cold water fish and everything you need for a garden pond plus a good range of aquariums and associated equipment and foods.

A large Gift department with something for everyone, a fantastic range of wild bird care all year round. Garden furniture, BBQs, Picnic Ware, Lighting and most importantly a huge range of Trees, Shrubs, Perennials, Seasonal Bedding, Seeds etc. In fact everything you need for your garden is here. 

Cafe

Serving a variety of hot and cold food along with an extensive daily special's board, why not take the weight off your feet and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with a delicious slice of cake?

Also on Wednesdays and Sundays we offer a full roast dinner with all the trimmings!!!

Conservatories

There is a large conservatory show site open every day with various designs for you to look at with trained staff to answer any query you might have. Included is the new vaulted ceiling conservatory with tiled roof giving you the best of both worlds, more like an extension with the added benefit of a glass front or alternatively have bi-fold doors and open your house to the garden all summer long.
